The Mystery Of Chessboxing

The concept of chessboxing was first introduced in Froid Équateur, a 1992 graphic novel by French artist Enki Bilal, where characters resolved conflict through alternating rounds of chess and boxing. What began as a fictional idea soon evolved into a groundbreaking sport.

In 2003, Dutch artist Iepe Rubingh brought this vision to life in Berlin, staging the first official chessboxing match. Since then, the sport has taken root around the world, with clubs and competitions uniting brain and brawn on a global scale.
